The Invention of Marriage

Marriage is a human invention. Long before this invention, a woman will look for certain qualities in a man before deciding to have a child by him. Qualities like perhaps, blue eyes, appealing looks, musculature, power etc. In any case, once a man is lucky enough to be given the opportunity to impregnate a woman with his seed, he is not tied down to that particlular woman but he is free to continue to sow his wild oats with other women. There is no responsiblity, financial or otherwise for the man to bring up the child as that responsibility of nurturing that child falls on the woman. So marriage in that sense had done a disservice to nature as it restricts a man from spreading his genes and contributing to the genetic pool. A man should be free to choose his partners ( and likewise be chosen by the women ) to propogate his genes and if he so desires, live with one woman for the rest of his days. Marriage as an instiution is obsolete, in my opinion
